Queenager Careers: Looking for a new job? ITV is looking for Queenager employees...
Women of the Year, Lorraine, World Menopause Day and much more in this month's Noon Jobs Board newsletter

Dear Queenagers,
On Monday I was honoured to attend the Women of the Year lunch, it is quite an accolade to get an invitation and the room was buzzing with incredible women. I’m proud to say that Queenagers were in great evidence, from the hilarious host Mel Giedroyc to the winner of Campaign of the Year, Merope Mills, whose mission to bring in Martha’s Law for her daughter who died of sepsis because the doctors dismissed her mother’s concerns as ‘over anxious’ was a worthy, if tragic winner. In a speech which brought a tear to everyone’s eye she said she would much rather have her daughter Martha than the prize (presented by ITV’s Susanna Reid), but was pleased that her successful campaign to give patients a right to second opinion might stop another family suffering in the same way.
The Queenager hits just kept coming. The Woman of the Year Lifetime achievement award went to Baroness Brenda Hale, the Super Queenager who stopped Boris Johnson’s prorogation of parliament as Head of the UK’s Supreme Court. In her speech she said: “What I say to younger women is don’t necessarily have a plan, take what comes along and seize the day! If it works out great, and if it doesn’t it’s their fault as they chose you. So if I hadn’t worked out as a Law Commissioner and a Supreme Court Judge it would have been the Lord Chancellor’s fault anyway! Don’t let your imposter syndrome get in the way….. As I’ve got more successful I’ve tried not to be in that special place in hell, which as Madeleine Albright said, is reserved for women who don’t help other women! I’m proud to call myself a frank fearless feminist - that is what all women who believe in equality are. Never be afraid to say you are one too!” She was not only inspirational but hilarious, telling us all that her famous spider brooch (which now has its own twitter account) originally came from Cards Galore and cost just £12. (She’s upgraded now as the first one is so fragile.)
What a lunch, what a bunch of women!
Also there was one of my personal favourite Queenagers, Lorraine Kelly CBE. For years I was one of her regular pundits, I’d pop over to ITV and appear on Lorraine a couple of times a month to review the papers. She was as warm and funny off camera as she is on it- and true to form at the lunch was championing female Game Changers, the unsung heroines of community projects all over the UK, nominated by viewers of her ITV show. I’m pleased to say that ITV champions Queenagers off the screen as well as on it. In fact they are one of our featured age-friendly employers this month, advertising a plethora of roles where they are actively seeking women over 50… so go on apply, you might find yourself working alongside Lorraine, or certainly sorting out the props on Emmerdale ! (see below for more details).
Today, is also World Menopause Day, and the Menopause Charity say that one in 10 women of menopausal age are quitting their jobs. Many do so when the get hit by what we call at Noon the Midlife Maelstrom - divorce, bereavement, redundancy, elderly parents coming to bits, teenagers also needing intensive support, not to mention our own health issues and of course menopause. And often all of these hit together. Too often we see Queenagers dropping out of the workforce during these caring pinchpoints but then when they want to return they find it incredibly difficult. Which is why we run our Noon Jobs Board, supported by 55-Redefined, to help you midlife ladies to do exactly that.
So here are today’s age-friendly featured employers, with some of the many jobs on offer and do check out the Noon Jobs Board too for lots more! Good luck and have a wonderful day. Oh and if you fancy some inspiration do join our Noon World Menopause Day debate tonight - tickets here, free for Paid Subscribers to this newsletter. We’ll be donating some of the proceeds to the Menopause Charity.
